2009 The beginning of our trip

Hello everybody,
This is my first post for this year, & I'll try to keep it up at 2-weekly intervals. As you probably know, Mum died on the 15th of February, & was cremated on the 19th of February at Centennial Park. Due to this, we put off starting our trip until 24th of March, when we travelled to Port Pirie. We stayed there for 2 nights. Whilst there, we went on the Lead Smelters tour, & also drove to Laura, the home of C.J.Dennis. That was a beautiful drive & a beautiful town. Each morning, at about 8.00am, we heard a man singing at the top of his lungs. I went to investigate, & found it to be a local eccentric, who swims & sings at the same time. This bloke swims in the river for about 2-3 miles a day. We spent Thursday & Friday nights at Port Augusta, & whilst there, we went to Quorn & Wilmington in the Southern Flinders Ranges. Today is Saturday, & we are now in Roxby Downs. This is a modern town with a young population. We drove around the town today, & didn't see one pub. Quite different to Quorn, that had six pubs in 3 blocks.
I'll write again within 2 weeks, & in the meantime, I'll post some photos.
